It's been a while...

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything on my blog, so it's probably about time I updated you!
I had an exhibition in Adelaide earlier this year at Light Square Gallery. It was a group exhibition called "Over the Road" and was curated by Stephanie James-Manttan (who I went through the JamFactory with). It was a part of the Jamfactory's 40th birthday celebrations for this year. I made three teapot sets for the show. It was so nice to catch up with some wonderful people on opening night, who I haven't seen in years.

Blue Printed Tea Set (2013)

Last weekend I was a part of the Mugs Day, a Milan Rouge event. People buy a mug, made by a local artist and it is filled with something delicious (such as soup or Chai Tea). It was good motivation in this freezing weather to get out into the studio and get productive.

Mugs about to be bisque fired.

Next I am working towards a group exhibition called "Harvest". This will be shown at Urban Cow Studios in Adelaide. Stay tuned for that one! I am also working towards a display at Murray Bridge Regional Gallery as artist of the month later in the year. So lots of things are happening!

Happy making everyone! :-)

Nest of Bowls ~ Alfresco range

Hi guys! I'm launching my new Alfresco range at the Pepper Street Gallery (Magill) next Sunday starting at 2pm. It's a group show called 'Food and Wine'. This is a nest of bowls influenced by my time in the Riverland, South Australia, where I currently live. Hope you can make it to the show. It's open for the whole month of June. Would love to see you there!

New Alfresco Range

These bowls are part of my new "Alfresco" Range. They are a perfect size for holding dips, olives and many other delicious things! I will be launching this new range at the Pepper Street Art Gallery 'Food and Wine' exhibition in a weeks time (scroll down to the previous post for more details). This range has been influenced by my time living in the South Australian Riverland, amongst the vineyards and orchards. It's a beautiful place to live! :-)

Food and Wine exhibition

Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I've blogged. Hopefully I'll be able to update you all more often. I'm showing work in the Pepper Street Art Gallery 'Food and Wine' exhibition, which is opening in a week. I will be showing a new range of work, which has been inspired by living in the South Australian Riverland (amongst the vineyards)! It would be wonderful to see you there. :-)

Wanted To Buy...

Hey everyone! I'm looking to buy a good-working second hand pottery wheel for a primary school. It needs to be located in South Australia. And I'm also looking for a small to medium electric pottery kiln (also in SA). Please let me know if you have one for sale or know of one. Thank you!

The Break Up

Sad news! Studio Lingo is finishing up on 24th December. Come and grab a locally handmade bargain, just in time for Christmas! Hope you can make it!

The Ultimate Granny Cup and Saucer

Way back in this blog post I mentioned the granny cup and saucer that a friend asked me to make, as a gift for his boss for becoming a granny!! A bit of a cheeky gift, I think! Well, in that post, way back in September, I promised to post the progress of the piece on here. However that was as far as I got! So here is the rest of the progress of the 'Ultimate Granny Cup and Saucer'...

Freshly trimmed. I actually made three sets, to be on the safe side.

Here is the handle attached and I decided to add some 'older style' roses that are popular on wedding cakes, or on 70th+ birthday cakes!

The cup and saucer with some underglaze slips. I painted the roses pink and red, to go with the decals that I attached afterwards. 'Granny' is written in an old style of handwriting in green.

A close up of the pink rose on the saucer.

The cup and saucer glazed and ready for some decals.

The decals attached.
It's always hard to imagine exactly how the colours will turn out at this point.

The final granny cup and saucer! Ready to be delivered.

Here is the back of the cup.

It was a fun little project to make - something a bit different!
It was delivered on Friday and I got to see the boss's reaction. She really liked it! I'm pretty sure anyway... unless she was just being polite!? :-)
